Internet, WiFi and Bluetooth

 Internet, WiFi and Bluetooth

The Internet, which came about in the 1970s but was no made public until the 1990s, is a system that has revolutionized mass communication, media and commerce, allowing computers around the world, to be on one common network. The main developer of the early internet was founded by Robert W Taylor. Robert Kahn and Vinton Cerf invented the IP part of the internet. Today, the internet is a whole different thing than what it used it to be. We use it every single day for various reasons; banking, education, work, shopping, streaming, and so much more.

The World Wide Web (WWW) was invented in 1989 by British Scientist, Tim Berners- Lee. Originally it was developed and used to meet the demand of the automated information. The original plan was to merge the WWW with other technological platforms to create one easy center for all of it. Now, in 2023 it is used for sharing blogs, social media sites, communication and much more.

To many of us that don't know the deep knowledgeable information about the internet and World Wide Web, one might wonder if they're the same thing, they're not. The WWW are the pages or sites you see when you're online. The internet is a network of devices connected together that the WWW works on. More closely, the internet is what sends the information of the WWW.  A way to think about how they work is, the internet is the roads and the WWW is the cities that those roads take you to.

The first website was first created on August 6, 1991. The first website contained valued information about the WWW for users to gain a better understanding of it. It was created by Tim Lee, the same man who created the World Wide Web. Unfortunately the first website was lost, but in 2013, there was a project to bring it back. http://info.cern.ch/

Hedy Lamarr wasn't just a pretty face, she is the founder behind things such as GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi. Originally she was picked up as an actress, but that eventually turned. Hedy and a man named, George Antheil, came up with a device to help the US as they geared up for WWII. Their invention? A way for torpedos to communicate and have a more precise hit on their target. The device used frequency hoping to communicate with the torpedo. She has been named the "mother of wifi" and other wireless devices.

Jaap Haarsten is the inventor of Bluetooth. The original plan was to create a way for computers to connect with wireless headphones. The name "Bluetooth" is an anglicized translation of Danish King Harald Blåtand's surname. The logo is a Viking inscription, known as a bind rune, that merges the king's two initials.

Vic Hayes, known as the "father of wifi" is the man behind it's invention, thanks to Hedy Lamarr. The name WiFi doesn't actually stand for anything, but it is the vital part of connecting computers, phones and televisions to the internet without a cable.
